The Monte Vista Water District in Montclair, California contracted with Nobel Systems’ to utilize its GeoViewer Online Enterprise Cloud Solution to manage the water utility’s infrastructure and workflow processes.
The district will use GeoViewer Online and Mobile to manage infrastructure and water utility assets via the software’s user-friendly interface. Monte Vista Water District (MVWD) staff will use GeoViewer’s secure cloud-based software to access department spatial datasets, Google Map imagery, Google Street View, and local government geospatial data.
The GeoViewer platform integrates existing GIS spatial layers, in addition to geographic data repositories, asset management information, linked image libraries, and other associated water system data. Staff will be able to access interactive water atlas maps from desktop Web browsers with GeoViewer.
Accessible on any mobile device, MVWD staff can use GeoViewer Mobile to streamline workflow processes and manage day-to-day operations. Specific GeoViewer Mobile tools that MVWD will employ are the valve exercising and hydrant flushing inspection modules.
The Valve Exerciser Machine Module adaptor enables the district to send information directly into the Geoviewer application using Bluetooth technology. The adaptor taps into the Valve Exercise Machine and extracts turns, torque, and direction. The valve GIS data is instantly populated with this information via the iPad GeoViewer app and synchronized with GeoViewer Online.
The GeoViewer Mobile Hydrant Flushing Module enables users to see all hydrants, blow-offs, end caps, and more in the nearby vicinity and choose a specific feature to flush. After the flushing information is collected, GeoViewer Mobile automatically synchronizes the data with the server.
